Shared reading goals. Flexible response formats.
Students can complete one section of a weekly trifold or use the corresponding prompt in a reading journal. Trifolds provide a compact format with built-in organizers; journal prompts offer more room for larger handwriting or detailed responses.
Both options keep students working toward the same comprehension goals.
Go deeper into the story
Activities explore character motivation and development, point of view, conflict, cause and effect, theme, and plot. Students also examine how Gratz uses foreshadowing, irony, dialogue, mood, and imagery.
Vocabulary flipbooks provide space to explore each day’s word through definitions, illustrations, sentences, synonyms, or antonyms.
A clear routine for your classroom
Use the pacing guide to introduce the day’s skill and vocabulary, complete the assigned reading, then have students respond and discuss. The materials work with whole-class instruction, small groups, book clubs, or homeschool reading.
